Monterey Mini CowCompany Foundation

Volunteer

The mission needs hands more than headlines.

Writing a check is one path. Showing up is another — and often the one that changes a visit for a child or a Gateway group. Here are real roles on a working ranch.

Visit Host

2–4 hours · by appointment

Welcome families and groups. Help with calm, unhurried animal introductions. Training provided.

Accessibility Buddy

Event-based

Support wheelchair routes, sensory breaks, and quieter pacing during group visits.

Ranch Steward

Weekday mornings

Hay, water, pens, and the daily work that keeps the herd gentle and the grounds ready.

School Trip Helper

School-day slots

Station support for field trips — animal facts, safety, and making sure every kid gets a turn.

Event Setup Crew

As needed

Tents, paths, signage, and hospitality for community and partner visits.

Story & Photo Volunteer

Flexible

Help capture (with signed releases) the real moments that show impact — never exploitative, always respectful.

How to step in

  1. Email us your interest and availability — no perfect resume required.
  2. We match you to a role and a training slot with John, Gen, or a lead host.
  3. First shifts are shadowed. Safety and animal calm always come first.
  4. Photo/video of ranch visitors is covered by signed waivers; we still coach respect.
